About Mrs. Ilene Banker
“Teaching reading literacy skills to young learners is my passion, and education has been my life’s work for over 30 years”
As a pre-school, public school primary teacher, and school administrator, Ilene Banker received rigorous training teaching literacy acquisition and comprehension to students. After her retirement, she has continued to pursue current pedagogy and best literacy practices for teaching reading.
Most recently, Ilene served as a public school University of Virginia PALS (Phonemic Awareness and Literacy Screening) tutor, providing reading support for kindergarten through third grade students.
With Mrs. Banker’s Butterflies tutoring, Ilene offers your child a balanced literacy program, which explicitly teaches spelling, writing, and reading with a multi-sensory approach.
